Bar loves to tell visual stories. With a deft touch he can imbue simple graphic forms with political and social commentary, or manipulate everyday icons to create witty, double- take images that make you look once, twice, three times. With his bold use of colours, shapes and pared down iconography, Bar captures the spirit of a person or the heart of an issue with arresting clarity and humour and his instantly recognizable style has established him as one of the world’s most in-demand illustrators.
In September 2011 his London Design Festival exhibition “Cut It Out”, at Outline Editions pop up gallery in Soho, was selected as one of the highlights of the festival. The project travelled to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in October 2011 and in December 2011 Noma created a series of new cut out luminescent artworks, where light took the form of negative space, as part of the Cut Out The Light exhibition at SCIN gallery with Jake Dyson
The project has just been nominated an award in the graphics category for the Design Museum, Designs Of the Year 2012. Cut It Out will be exhibited alongside other nominations at the Design Museum from 8th February-15th July 2012.
All luminescent one off artworks by Noma Bar are available to buy exclusively from Outline Editions
